No. 5 Shadwell, Uley (Grade II listed) - Currently at Planning Stage
This Grade II listed cottage in an AONB and probably dates back to the C17. It is arranged on three floors. A large 1960/70s extension has reduced the character of the main house and created an awkward flow of spaces. BMA have been appointed to advice on the refurbishment works to the main house and for the proposed extensions. The removal of existing extension is an important move in order to fully express the historic portion of the house. The new extension adopts a memory of the historic walled garden which once existed, and is clad in natural timber to respond to the local setting. This will house the new dining/kitchen area, bathroom, utility, garden room/lounge, and study on mezzanine level. BMA have liaised closely with the planners and conservation officer to ensure we maximise the integrity and potential of this delightful project.
